Managing Stress
Stress is a natural physical and mental response to life’s demands. But chronic stress can damage your cardiovascular system, weaken your immune system and disrupt sleep.
Practical steps to mitigate stress
- Reframe your thoughts: practise cognitive reappraisal — identify irrational fears and challenge them.
- The pause practice: when feeling overwhelmed, step away from screens for 5 minutes of mindful quiet.
- Sleep hygiene: keep a regular bedtime and avoid blue-light devices at least an hour before sleep.
- Limit stimulants: high caffeine and sugar trigger adrenaline spikes that worsen anxious feelings.
