Mental Health and Wellbeing
Maintaining good mental health and wellbeing is important because it influences how you think and feel about yourself as well as others.
Your mental health can also affect how you deal with everyday life events, such as relationships and coping with change.
Our mental health can affect us in many ways. If you have had any thoughts of ending your life, contact your GP as soon as you can. If your GP surgery is closed when you ring, you will be directed to an out of hours doctor. Your GP is a great source of support and advice and will be able to talk to you about the many treatments we have on offer.

www.live-life-well.net has been specifically designed to help manage a persons own mental health and wellbeing. Created by the Health Improvement Team (part of Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust), this interactive website offers easy to access information on areas such as lifestyle and mental health. Content on www.live-life-well.net includes:
- a range of useful contacts
- a self help section for depression, anxiety and sleep
- information on medication
- a resources section complete with various downloads
- information on suicide prevention

- The Samaritans is available for anyone in any type of distress on 08457 90 90 90 or by email at email@example.com.
- The Depression Alliance Support offers advice for people who are suffering with depression. Telephone 0845 123 2320.
- Halton MIND supports people with mental health problems to live independently, offer a befriending service and counselling service. Telephone 0151 495 3991.
- Surrey MIND offers social activities to people who become isolated. They have a befriending service, social groups and an allotment. They can be contacted by calling 01744 677058.
- CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is free telephone counselling and information for men aged 15-35 and is available every day from 5pm to midnight. Contact CALM on 0800 58 58 58.
- PAPYRUS (http://www.papyrus-uk.org/) is dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. If you are worried about yourself or someone you know you can contact Papyrus’ helpline, HOPELineUK, on 0800 068 41 41.
